Expert Answers about Bike Tools

  • Are Tools for Installation Included in Swagman Trailhead Bike Carrier?
  • The Swagman Trailhead 4-Bike Rack for 2" Hitches - Non-Folding # S63381 will require a small socket set for initial assembly and installation. There are two bolts that require installation and then checking the already installed bolts for secure hold. Then the threaded hitch pin will also require a wrench or socket. There are really minimal tools required and it is an easy assembly, but the tools are not included. There are no special, uncommon tools required. This is a very sturdy...

  • Could Swagman Pick-Up Truck-Bed-Mounted 2 Bike Carrier # S64702 Fit Truck with Tool Box
  • If the top of your tool box is lower than the bed rails of your 2019 Ford F-150 the Swagman Pick-Up Truck-Bed-Mounted 2 Bike Carrier # S64702 would fit easily. Worst case scenario the rack would fit behind the tool box like in the picture I attached.

  • Recommended 4-Bike Platform-Style Bike Carrier
  • All of the 4-bike platform-style carriers that can be converted to a 2-bike option require a tool. This is for stabilization as well as a theft deterrence. I do like the platform style carriers versus the hanging bike racks because the platform bike carriers hold the bikes more securely that the hanging carriers. The Thule T2 Pro XTR, part # TH83JV plus 2-bike add-on, part # TH9036XT uses Allen head bolts to hold the 2-bike add-on. This bike rack has a strap to secure the rear wheel of...

  • Comparing Park Toold PCS-9 Bike Stand and Feedback Sports Sport Mechanic Bike Work Stand
  • We don't carry the Park Tool PCS-9 stand but I am familiar with it. The big advantage the Feedback part # 301-16413 has is the ability to easily fold down the legs of the base of the carrier whereas the Park Tool does not have that. I also prefer the knob style of the Feedback that's used for tightening the bike to the rack. Overall this carrier will store easier and be easier to use so I recommend it over the Park Tool .

  • Allen Key Wont Remove Allen Screw for Adapter Sleeve on Swagman XTC2 TILT Bike Rack
  • The adapter sleeve on the Swagman XTC2 TILT Bike Rack for 2 Bikes part # S64671 is held in place with a single allen screw. The allen tool for this screw is included in the kit, it's a 6mm. If the tool does not fit inside the screw then it's likely stripped. If that's the case, you can either drill out the screw or use a dremel tool and cut a flat-head into the screw so you can use a different tool.

  • Can RockyMounts MonoRail Solo Bike Rack be Upgraded to Tool-Free Anti-Rattle System
  • The RockyMounts MonoRail Solo Bike Rack for 1 Bike # RKY10007 is only compatible with the anti-rattle bolt like what you were referring to. If you don't already have the MonoRail then I recommend going with the Inno Tire Hold 1 Bike Platform Rack # INH110 instead as it has a tool-free anti-rattle system and nearly the exact same specs. The biggest difference between these 2 racks is that the MonoRail can carry bikes with up to a 5" wide tire while the Tire Hold is compatible with up to...

  • How to Install and Carry a Woman's Bike with the Thule Pasage Trunk Mount Bike Rack
  • The Thule Passage # TH910XT does not require any tools for installation. It uses hooks on the straps to connect to your vehicle. I've attached the install instructions as well as video you can look at. It will carry a woman's bike however since the bike will not have a straight cross tube you will need an adapter bar to keep the bike level. The Kuat Ubar Bike Frame Adapter Bar # UB01 is a great choice since it is spring-loaded to help establish a secure fit.

  • Tools Required for Install of Trailer Hitch on 2017 Mazda 6
  • For a trailer hitch for your 2017 Mazda 6 the Curt Hitch # C11356 is a confirmed fit and a great choice. The only tool you'll need to provide is a 3/4 inch wrench and you'll be set. I am not sure where you are, but typically we recommend finding a local mechanic with a solid reputation for hitch installs. I attached an install video for this down below for you to check out as well.

  • Do Bike Racks With A Tool-Free Installation Work With Trailer Hitch Reducers
  • Hey Sean, The tool-free installations of Yakima, Thule, and Kuat all pinch the rack against the receiver tube. With you having a reducer the rack would clamp to the reducer and there'd be nothing to clamp the reducer to the receiver tube of the hitch without installing a hitch pin. Both Thule and Yakima's designs won't allow for a separate hitch pin so you'll need to go with a Kuat rack like the NV 2.0 # NV22B or # NV22G. The NV 2.0 will come with a hitch pin and an anti-rattle knob...

  • 2-Bike Rack For Toyota Prius C That Offers Tool-Free Installation
  • Hey there Gerad, I understand how some of those bike rack's with threaded hitch pins can be a pain to install. I think you'd be happy using the Thule Apex XT Bike Rack for 2 Bikes # TH9024XT. This hitch is extremely easy to install or remove from your hitch without any tools. You simply slide it into the hitch receiver and push in a pin, then use a knob to tighten it by hand (check out the video I attached: at about the 7:10 minute mark you can see the installation process). Keep in mind,...

  • Yes, the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C11576 which is a fit for a 2019 Toyota Camry can be installed by someone at home with little tools or mechanical knowledge. In fact, these hitches are actually based around this premises that someone at home with very little tools or mechanical knowledge will be installing them so the design needs to be as simple as possible. The vehicle does not need to be lifted for installation though if you had a few floor jacks for the rear it might give...

  • Hitch Bike Rack Options for 2008 Volkswagen Eos
  • You can go in one of two ways to mount your bike on your 2008 Volkswagen Eos 2-door coupe. The lower-cost method is a trunk-mount bike rack. A trunk rack is fine especially if you have only the one bike to transport, and if that bike is a fairly standard weight of 30-35-lbs. If you happen to have a recumbent or other specialty bike (or just a really heavy one) please let me know. The trunk-mount 2-bike carriers confirmed to fit your 2008 Volkswagen Eos come from Yakima, a prominent quality...

  • Compatibility of Hollywood Racks Truck Bed Carrier with 9mm Skewer without Quick Release
  • The Hollywood Racks Truck Bed Bike Carrier # HRT970 that you referenced will work with any bike that has a 9mm front skewer. This size is pretty common but you will want to make sure on your particular bike since there are other sizes that are also used. As long as the forks of the bike are slotted so that they can fit on to the axle of this carrier, the skewer of the carrier will work just fine. If the axle doesn't have a quick release mechanism, it just means you will need to use tools...
